Kristan Dziurzynski Therapist Bio

About Kristan Dziurzynski, PhD, MHCA

I view discomfort not as something to be avoided, but as a catalyst for change. Psychotherapy can be uncomfortable because the process involves approaching the barriers that restrict you. I value transparency and my style is direct. I believe finding a therapist you genuinely trust and feel safe with is the most essential piece to gain from any therapeutic intervention. As such, I strongly encourage you to be patient with yourself and listen to how you feel when searching for that fit.
I am completing my Postdoctoral Fellowship year and provide psychotherapy and assessment services (e.g., diagnostic clarification) to individuals ages 15+. I have focused my career on being formally trained in delivering empirically supported treatments, with an emphasis on exposure-based and cognitive-behavioral based therapies (e.g., PE, CPT, CBT, EX/RP).
I believe exposure techniques empower individuals to live a life of meaning, even in the presence of inevitable strife, conflict, and distress. I am also well versed in veteran/military and ‘geek and gamer’ culture, and excited to bring that cultural understanding into our psychotherapy sessions, if applicable.
